There are a lot of tricks when it comes to pushing -- the higher the tier you are, the faster the pace of the game is usually.

Here's one thing I've learned that I'm sure you won't see so common - level 2 cheese.

It's pretty simple, you take some EXP from blue/red buff OR you push your lane earlier (therefore, getting the EXP from the minions and reaching level 2 before your opponent does) and going all in on them. You don't have to necessarily kill them, but champions like Lee Sin and Riven who are good at this will be able to bring them low enough to zone them completely until they go back, if not kill them.

You can also push when:

You want to tower dive (with or without help of jungler)

Whenever YOU go back or whenever the ENEMY goes back, always try to push your lane to enemy tower before recalling. If you go back, pushing it will make it hard for them to push it to your tower fast enough to deny you minions. If they go back and you push it to their tower, it denies them minions.

Whenever your enemy laner roams and you can't get there fast enough. The misconception behind this is that whenever your enemy roams, you should follow. It's not always the case because you are never 100% certain if they are planning to roam. Best case when they're roaming is to try to get their tower as low as possible, or if you have enough time, kill it.

If you're confident that your enemy isn't too good at csing at tower, pressure it by pushing to their tower. You have to be confident enough in outplaying them or noticing the mini-map because usually this draws the jungler's attention to you instead of the other lanes. However, if the jungler just ignores you - you usually come out ahead because you can harass the enemy at their tower while they're focused on trying to get the CS instead of letting the minions die to the tower.

Lastly, sieging. Out of my experience, a lot of people in bronze/silver/gold do not know how to siege properly. If you are ahead of your opponent, decide on a lane and push it and siege it when you get to their tower. Have your jungler/top laner (whoever's tankee) go up to the tower to either ZONE them or soak up the damage while your ADC pushes it. I've seen a lot of tanks refusing to man up and leave the adc in the front to hit the tower, which costs ALOT of fights/games.

@Jackeh basically summarized majority of this - I've just added some details in for further explanation. ^_^

That helps a lot. Thanks :D

Could you explain a bit more in detail about how to execute a successful siege? When to abort mission?

Sorry for the delayed replies!

There's a lot of factors before deciding to siege. Your team can have a lot of poke champions (Caitlyn, Lux, Nidalee, Jayce, etc) which makes sieging extremely easy because all you do is poke them a few times, send one or two back and then force the tower. Make the enemy team scared of you diving at any given moment. If not, then usually when you're ahead in the game and can execute a dive with being at too much of a disadvantage. Top/Jungler in the front zoning/soaking damage, carries at the back withering the tower down and supports ready to engage/disengage/peel.

You have to know when it's too dangerous to siege. It could give the losing team a comeback if you do not know when to disengage. If the tower is low enough for you to kill and instantly start a fight with them, stick to the tower. If it's at full health and the enemy team's movement does not appear to be hesitant/indecisive, that's when you just leave it and come back later on. It's all about reading the movement. If it looks like they don't want to fight, make them think you do and that's a free objective for you. If they are down to fight and you know that fighting until tower could cost you the team fight, then that is when you abort.
